Baths are my self care practice of choice. Perhaps it’s my Pisces moon. At least that’s the magic I link to it. Baths are my sacred space. My place to recharge and recoup from life.
Baths are necessary in my life when I’m feeling sick, stressed, anxious or overwhelmed. They’ve always been my retreat. My place to wash away any unkempt emotions. Emotions are tied to water in the astrological and elemental world, after all.
Water in and of itself is cleansing but you can add things to your bath water for extra benefits.
Cleansing
A cleansing bath to rid your aura of all negativity is quite simple to put together. Set your intentions of purification and cleansing upon the crystals and water. Burn sage around the room before hand if you like to rid any stagnant or negative energy before you soak in the new cleansing.
Light white candles around the bathroom. Play soft music and diffuse cleansing oils of lemon, orange or melaleuca. DoTERRA makes a wonderful blend called ‘Purify’.
Sea salt is cleansing. This is one reason the ocean calls to people. It’s purifying abilities are not lost on the subconscious, even if we don’t consciously realize why we’re drawn to it.
Clear quartz is a great crystal to use in a cleansing bath ritual.
You can set your crystals around the rim, creating a grid with you in the center, or you can place them in the water for charging and amplification.
Herbs and oils can be used for their detoxing abilities. Frankincense, rosemary and ginger are all great choices. You can use the essential oil versions, placing 3-5 drops in the tub or you can use the whole herbs. Flowers give the atmosphere a sacred and lovely vibe as well!
Baking soda has cleansing abilities and is great to balance your pH levels. Too much too often though can cause dry skin and unbalanced pH levels.
Apple cider vinegar is another great choice for alkalizing and can leave your skin smooth and soft. A sacred cleansing bath ritual is best done at the new or full moon.
Relaxing
Managing our stress is so important. When left to run wild and untamed, it can wreak havoc on our bodies and our minds. Causing anxiety, weight gain and even more serious things like heart attack and cancer. When you think of things in these terms, it makes it a little easier to set “important” things (notice the quotation marks) to the side and focus on relaxing self care.
Start this bath off the same way you would your cleansing bath. With candles, soft music, smudging and setting the intentions for it to be calming, stress relieving and rejuvenating. Set up your diffuser with calming oils like lavender, chamomile and/or jasmine.
Use the same oils and/or herbs in your bath to soak in the serenity as well. Use your crystals to create a grid or charge the water. This time using amethyst, rose quartz, smokey quartz or onyx.
Epsom salt baths are good for relaxing and healing sore muscles. It will leave your skin a bit on the dry side though so be sure and oil your skin afterwards with coconut if you’re a pitta or sesame oil if your vata or kapha.
Milk baths are also great for the skin. I never recommend dairy due to principal (and health reasons when consumed) but almond milk is a fine substitute for all of your needs.
Relaxing baths are best done anytime you’re feeling some type o’ way.
Infuse Spirit
There isn’t really a “proper” formula of measurements for these things. Use your intuition and remember less is always more. Soak for at least 20-30 minutes and have fun with it.
These are great places to meditate and visualize what you desire. Soak in not only the water but the intentions and vibrations you infused into it when you put it together. Recognize your inner goddess and make this a practice of self love and worship.
