A Brief History

The name “Topaz” remains a debate among scholars with some suggesting it comes from an ancient Greek island, Topazios, that at one time produced peridot which was often then confused with topaz. Others suggest it comes from the Sanskrit “Topas” meaning “Fire”.

The Greeks claimed it gave them strength. The people of India believed it ensured long life, beauty and Intelligence.

Topaz is a stone of an enchanting past and vast capabilities. It comes in various colors and although blue topaz is the most widely known, yellow is the most common. Topaz provides a baseline of benefits but, since color is vibration, it provides a multitude of uses depending on which color you have as well.

The ancients associated topaz with their Sun god and/or Jupiter. St Hildegard von Bingen, the founder of natural history in Germany, suggested an elixir of topaz for blindness.

To create a crystal elixir, allow the stone to sit in water (She suggested wine) for 3 days straight and drink. During the soaking, the water becomes impregnated with the gem’s vibrations and thus, benefits.

Topaz aligns the meridians, sending energy directly to the part of the body that needs it the most. It’s known as the stone of love and good fortune.

Yellow Topaz

Yellow topaz is a stone that helps you align to the highest levels of the natural world. It aids in development of trust in yourself and the universe and can help spiritual development in those who are having a hard time progressing with it.

Topaz is a calming stone, lessening stress at all degrees and raising the vibrations of those who hold it. Negativity can not survive within it’s aura. It helps calm, align and heal the body, directing it’s energy to the areas of your aura that need the most attention.

Connected to the solar plexus chakra, yellow topaz is a great manifestation tool, bringing power and effectiveness to your affirmations and intentions. It helps you to find the riches that already exist in your life.

Golden Topaz

Golden topaz, also known as imperial topaz, embodies the characteristics of a great leader. It has stronger connections to the divine than yellow topaz and can help us to align with our greatest good. It brings into awareness our gifts and gives us the courage to express them with humility.

This topaz magnifies charisma, generosity and heart centeredness. It’s chakra is also the solar plexus, making it a great stone for leaders. It helps to maintain balance and confidence in power and better avoid the darkness that tempts such positions.

Golden topaz acts as a battery. Charging the body, mind and spirit and giving energy to that which we would like to bring about into the physical world.

Rutilated Topaz

“Rutilated” stones are those that have lines or “hairs” within them. Rutilated topaz is very rare and very high vibration. It protects the user in the physical and nonphysical realms and can be programmed to attract love, light and all things positive into one’s life. It’s especially useful for visualization, protection and manifestation.

Blue Topaz

Blue topaz is connected to the third eye and throat chakras. It aids in healing one’s ability of self expression and trust in self and the universe. Use it when creating, voicing your opinion/beliefs and making decisions. It helps you to realize and embody your truth, bringing back alignment from the dishevel false beliefs create. This is a great meditation stone.

Swiss Blue Topaz

Swiss blue topaz is a powerful and high vibration stone. It amplifys intentions and helps us to embody our purpose and reason for being. This magnificently bright blue stone brings forth the soul’s wisdom of past lives.

Pink Topaz

Pink topaz helps in transitioning from one state of being into the next with ease. It can aid in life changes and new chapters in health. Ridding that which is harmful and unneeded and releasing resistance to the new. It is the “hope” stone and can help show us the face of the divine.

Clear Topaz

Clear topaz is a stone for the soul. It helps clarify intentions, emotions and actions and activates cosmic awareness. It brings to the surface how thoughts, words and actions affect karma. It improves the flow of energy in it’s environment, preventing it from stagnating.

Vibration of Location

The geographical location that a stone is mined from can create a different vibration for each piece. It has been scientifically proven that crystals have their own energy vibration and can affect us and our vibrational field, with that, location can make a difference in the type of energy output too.

Each geographical location has a different energy depending on how far it is from the equator and the type of environment that surrounds it. The pressure that a stone was created under, how deep into the earth it is and how old a stone is all affect the vibration it resonates.

Thus, creating a living vibration for each stone and a stored memory of life from its beginning days until now. This is why we can be pulled to some stones and not others of the same type. Each and every one are slightly different in its own way.

Practice

Create elixirs with your crystals for healing. Place them in a glass of water overnight and drink in the morning. Super charge it by allowing it to sit under the full moon or placing a sigil on or under the glass.
