You probably already know that lughnasadh isn’t just a compilation of letters. Obviously deriving from not English, lughnasadh is pronounced LOO – NAH -SAH.
Which explains the newer variations of the holiday: Lúnasa (Irish), Lùnastal (Scottish Gaelic), Luanistyn (Manx language).
I wonder how many have totally avoided it simply because they couldn’t take the written and turn it to verbal.
I sure couldn’t for a while.
Anyway, It’s basically 2nd Litha. The sun’s energy is on it’s last leg. Utilize it and prepare for the winter.
If you’re prone to seasonal depression, try to get a head of it because it’s just around the corner.
Other than that, take a deep breath every chance you get. Every time you walk outside:
- Take a deep breath.
- Notice what the world (nature) is doing around you.
- Actively relax the muscles in your face, shoulders and down.
The whole point in these sabbats is celebrating our connection with all else. Honoring the cyclical nature and patterns of life.
The law of oneness, fractal patterns, as above so below.
Lughnasadh Aspects
Just go outside and see what you see, feel, notice and you decide what aspects you would like to assign to Lughnasadh for your own personal pleasure.
In fact, tell us below and we’ll see how different they are for each of us!
Celebrating Lughnasadh
- Have a bonfire (safely. It is a fire festival)
- Feast! (always)
- Connect with loved ones
- Make an alter
- Make a gratitude list
- Recognize the abundance around you
Lughnasadh Foods
Local, seasonal eating is what we’re always shooting for. My list, as seen below, may be different from yours if you’re in a very different part of the world.
There’s no better way to connect to the energy of existence than getting to know your own local harvest.
Lughnasadh Crystals
Sun type crystals. Think yellows, oranges, reds.
- Citrine
- Jasper
- Tiger’s Eye
It really just depends on what you’re trying to do with them.
- What do you want to bring in?
- Are we clearing or manifesting?
Lughnasadh Journaling
Gratitude journaling is great here. A main focus of Lughnasadh is abundance. So take this opportunity to recognize what abundance you have to be thankful for right now.
Formulate some affirmations and intentions that surround abundance.
Focus on the root and solar plexus chakras here, since they’re health greatly effects abundance in our lives. Is there anything here that needs to be healed and cleared?
