Times are hard right now. Arguably, times have always been hard. It’s an aspect of life that touches us all as humans. Sometimes on small, personal levels, sometimes on grand scales.
Dealing with these times can be hard. Especially when situations and circumstances make you to feel as though the entire world could erupt into flames any day.
- Will I wake up tomorrow to nuclear war?
- Will my children be safe?
- Should I keep them home with me?
- Build a cabin in the woods out in the off grid hills of Tennessee and start farming and gardening and preparing?
Life is filled with uncertainty. As a general rule, all forms of safety and security are nothing more than illusions.
We have no idea what situations will arise tomorrow, no matter the state of the world. No matter what scale we look at things, big or small, anything can happen at any time both in states of war and peace.
All you can do is your best. Lead by example in what you want the world to be like. Our actions ripple through the whole world. If you inspire one person with positive action, kindness and compassion, they will in turn inspire others.
Creating an unbreakable chain of positive influence and change throughout our entire planet.
Get Your Mind Right
Fear, anger and hatred breed only more fear, anger and hatred. Most who march and protest do so in anger, fear or hatred.
The first step in making the world a better place is to be aware of your own thoughts and actions and how they influence the world around you. Peace in the world starts with the peace within us all.
To project it out into the world, we must first find it in ourselves.
I know this sounds crazy. That I’m asking you to be at peace and accept the horrible things that are happening. What I’m asking you to do is be mindful.
As you react with the world around you ask yourself “Am I helping the situation? Or am I adding to it?”
Create a Sanctuary
Create a place where you can be at peace. A place where you can, temporarily at least, find your inner zen and breathe peacefully. Protect the energy of this place.
Surround it with crystals, spiritual tools and symbols, burn sage and cleanse it regularly. Vow that no negative energy be allowed within it’s borders. Nothing can reach you here. Ban news and the outside world within your sanctuary.
This is a sacred space. It shalt not be tainted by worldly manners.
Come to be here regularly. Especially if you’re feeling particularly drained or anxious about how things are going. Especially if you feel your energy needs recharging or if you need to rest. Connect to your inner being here.
Create Space
Meditate on positive ideas, solutions and innovations or just read a book to escape for a while. It’s ok to give yourself permission to check out for a bit.
Make time to unplug. Become more present to YOUR physical surroundings.
When your mind and world are chaotic and full to the brim, stress wreaks havoc on your body, mind and spirit. It damages them and causes physical and quality of life problems.
Making sure you have space every day to de-stress and clear your mind will do amazing things for helping your energy management. If we don’t create space to breathe, things begin to fill overwhelming and we naturally fall apart because falling apart creates the space we need.
Take care of yourself
Nothing is more important than your own self care. The better we take care of ourselves, the better we’re able to take care of others and the world around us. You won’t be doing anyone any good if you’re sick and in bed or having a mental breakdown.
- Eat to nourish your body.
- Exercise to detox and burn excess energy so it doesn’t become stagnant.
- Express your emotions and share your thoughts.
- Do something you enjoy just to have fun.
- Give someone a hug.
- Have a great conversation with someone discussing ideas and dreams, instead of worldly manners and other people.
Do What You Can
Alone, we can’t change the world. All we can do is influence it with leading by example and inspiring others with doing the right thing. Marches and activism are great for spreading awareness but change comes from you and me, doing small things every day.
Speak out in day to day conversations when you hear someone being unkind in any sense. It is not anyone’s place to define how another should live, no matter the circumstances.
It is no one’s place to say this is the right way and this is the wrong way. It’s all relative to each circumstance and we all have our own unique lives.
Live from love and light. Seek to spread acceptance in all it’s forms. Give kindness and compassion unconditionally.
All of our world’s problems stem from individuals who were not shown love, kindness, compassion and acceptance.
