Generational trauma is a deeply rooted issue that affects individuals in profound ways. It is an inheritance of both learned behavior and biological imprints that can shape our lives without us even realizing it. Passed down from one generation to another, these traumas can manifest as emotional scars, recurring patterns, and even physical ailments.
The impact of generational trauma can be seen in various aspects of our lives. It can affect our relationships, our mental and emotional well-being, and our overall ability to navigate through life’s challenges. From a psychological perspective, generational trauma can manifest as anxiety, depression, or a sense of emptiness that seems to have no apparent cause.
Moreover, generational trauma is not limited to personal experiences but also encompasses collective traumas experienced by entire communities or ethnic groups. Historical events such as war, colonization, forced displacement, and oppression can leave a lasting imprint on the psyches of those affected, passing down the effects of trauma through successive generations.
Breaking the cycle of generational trauma requires awareness, healing, and a willingness to address the painful legacies of the past. It demands a courageous exploration of our own histories and a conscious effort to disrupt harmful patterns. Through therapy, self-reflection, and support from loved ones, we can begin the journey of healing and liberation from the chains of generational trauma.
By acknowledging and working through our personal and collective wounds, we can foster resilience, create healthier relationships, and pave the way for future generations to live more fulfilling lives. It is a journey that requires patience, self-compassion, and a commitment to building a better future for ourselves and those who will come after us.
In this episode, Elizabeth Kipp walks us through a practice called ancestral clearing and how it can help us heal from these problems created by the past.
Beginning – 5:01
Ancestral clearing by John Newton. Trauma informed yoga. The effects of intergenerational trauma. Science is catching up to what we would refer to as generational “curses” and showing that the trauma of our ancestors has a measurable effect on our DNA and how we’re able to interact with our world.
Neuroplasticity and how even if you are preprogrammed with these traits and challenges, it doesn’t mean you’re stuck with them forever. You can reform your connections to a more favorable outcome. The nervous system if highly adaptable.
5:01 – 10:44
Quantum physics tells us that we can access past, present and future all at once. We’re all connected. Yoga is now in the present moment. Our ancestors are with us at all times.
The mantra “wahe guru” which translates to “wow teacher that takes us from darkness to light”. Chant it while scooping the hands over the head as if splashing water over the head. This connects us to our ancestors, thanks them as well as clears the aura.
Tommy Rosen addiction recovery event.
Blocking out intuition due to fear of being crazy or “woo-woo”.
10:44 – 20:34
I demonstrate how you can essentially “pet” your aura back into a smooth field. Something especially helpful during anxiety or panic attacks.
The magnetic field, how we’re hooked into it and the changes it’s going through. Quantum physics helped us bridge the gap between science and spirituality. Arguing about what to call XYZ. We get stuck on the words and the numbers when the truth is that the more we learn and find out, the more we have no idea how anything works.
Anxiety, how it’s not always from over thinking or trauma based. How yoga can help bring balance back into the mind and body.
20:34 – 25:21
The 8 limbs of yoga. Samskara meaning the harmful unconscious patterns we fall into.
We avoid labeling things as “good” or “bad”. Where things get blurry. Better is “helpful” or “unhelpful”. Most everything is a neutral tool until utilized.
We use the word “forgive” to mean “to release that which no longer serves”.
Breaking down mantras and seed sounds. Some don’t necessarily mean anything. They’re just sounds you sit with in order to match the vibration / energy / frequency with.
25:21 – 26:55
Healing the betrayal wound. Activating the vagus nerve. Word medicine.
26:55 – 33:59
EPIC MEDITATION LEAD.
33:59 – 37:35
Ancestral clearing for pets, land and home. We don’t have the science yet but the difference is noticeable and we can all feel it.
37:35 – 42:14
Labeling your spiritual business into a 3 sentence elevator pitch that doesn’t sound crazy. A little background on the “Align, Vibe, Flow” name of the podcast.
The power of presence.
42:14 – End
You can’t protect and connect at the same time. Resistance.
Chronic pain and not fighting it. Feeling it and allowing it to guide you through.
