I’ve recently reconnected with some old friends. Once a week we get together and cook something new, wholesome and plant based. It’s been surprisingly beneficial to me and my life in more ways than I could tell you.
With their help, I’ve been able to stay focused on my dietary goals, making better choices more and more often. I’m learning new recipes and finding out how simple plant based cooking really can be.
I want to encourage you to make your goals known to others. Tell people that you’re wanting to learn to eat X way and why and see if anyone else shares these goals as well. If you find someone, suggest getting together one meal a week if you can to explore new recipes together. More often if you can! Don’t be afraid to make connections with new people or those you once knew!
Having this accountability relationship is priceless in progress. You’ll feel a smoother transition and become more confident in keeping it up.
On Another Note..
I’m learning about fasting. Which, if you’re unfamiliar with it, is where you go extended periods of time without eating. I’ve always been interested in it but I’ve been pregnant or breastfeeding pretty consistently over the past five years. I’m also afraid of it a bit because I’ve had blood sugar issues since I was a teenager.
The universe co-conspires with us though, and it must have heard my interests in it because now I’m exploring it a little unwillingly. You see, I started Invisalign this past week and it hurts to eat so I’m just..not.
This opens up an opportunity for us both to learn! As I’ll research it, understand it and let you know my findings.
Don’t worry, I’m not starving myself. I’m eating 2 solid meals a day and learning how to make them count. This experience is doing more for me than straightening my teeth. It’s making me more mindful of what I eat and teaching me a few new things in the process.
Without further ado on my diary entry though, here’s the list you’ve all been waiting for!

Spring is finally here and with it, a whole host of new foods to feast upon! As the weather warms to more Pitta, our diets should cool to maintain balance.
It’s that wonderful warm and green time of year when we start our summer gardens. We planted our herbs this week as well as some salad greens and my peppermint is sprouting across the yard (Good for keeping spiders at bay). I mixed up the pots with the sage, cilantro and Basil seeds so we’ll have to guess which is which when they start sprouting.
I also have some Brussel sprouts, carrots and green bean seeds to plant and I’m wanting to learn about growing potatoes. They tell me it’s simple. I’ll get more soon to fill up my whole garden and I couldn’t be more excited about it!
Do you plant a garden? If so, tell me about it in the comments what sort of things you love to grow! Do you have any recipes to share with us using April’s seasonal eating list!?
